Bangkok--21 Nov--Japan Foundation The Japan Foundation will jointly present with the Siam Society and Chiang Mai Art and Culture Museum a collection of 85 Black & White Photographs taken throughout Japan by Yahagi Kijuro, a renowned photographer of present day Japan. This collection of photographs is entitled “Hidden Japan” focusing a candid look at nature in Japan. Bangkok Venue: The Siam Society, Sukhumvit 21 Rd. Yahagi Kijuro had traveled 20,000 kilometers throughout Japan. The photographs he took on that journey were published in a book entitled “Hidden Japan- Shizen ni Hisomu Nihon.” The photographs to be displayed in this exhibition were selected from among the ones in that book. The ones he took during his valuable journey that probed the very deepest layers of Japan, which are hidden in “nature.” Yahagi was awarded several prizes such as the First Prize at the 8th Art Exhibition Catalogue Contest 1996 in Osaka, in 1995 the Silver Prize from “Hidden Japan” and the Merit Award from catalogue “Patterns and Colors of Joy” at The Art Directors Club 9th International Annual Exhibition in New York, and many more at home and abroad.
