Bangkok--26 Nov--Shin Satellite Shin Satellite Public Company Limited (“SATTEL”), Asia’s leading commercial satellite operator and the operator of the IPSTAR satellite broadband system, today announced that the Company signed an Agreement with FirstAsia Group of Indonesia to provide IPSTAR gateway operations and services. Under the Agreement, FirstAsia Group will place an initial order for 5,000 User Terminals (UT) with the bandwidth commitment of 200 Mega-bits-per-second (Mbps). The construction of the Indonesian IPSTAR gateway will commence in December 2007 and will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. With the completion of the Indonesian Gateway, IPSTAR will have accomplished its milestone of serving all of South East Asian markets. According to the scope on the Gateway Partner Contract, FirstAsia Group will be responsible for the IPSTAR Gateway infrastructure and gateway operation in Indonesia. In addition, FirstAsia will be a Service Provider providing broadband internet access and other valued added services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Video Conferencing and IPTV. At present, FirstAsia provides wireless broadband infrastructure solution and IPSTAR will help FirstAsia to expand its broadband network solution to reach every part of Indonesia.
