Bangkok--29 Nov--Bangkok Public Relations - Price reduction — ranging from Bht. 30,000 to Bht. 110,000 — for all E20-friendly 2008 Honda cars depending on model - showcases E20-friendly premium upscale all-new Accord 2008 and CR-V at Motor Expo 2007(28 November 2007) — Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thailand’s second largest manufacturer and exporter of passenger cars, today announced that all its 2008 car models will be E20-compliant to meet the needs of motorists wishing to switch to alternative fuels. Honda is showcasing its E20-friendly all-new Accord and E20-friendly CR-V at this year’s Thailand International Motor Expo (29 November—10 December). Mr. Kenji Otaka, President of Honda Automobile (Thailand), said, “The completely redesigned Accord, with its enhanced premium look and ‘luxury-car dimensions’, is specially targeted at professionals and executives who lead active, successful lifestyles. Its bigger, roomier, sportier features and powerful engine are setting the standards for new driving performance, comfort and safety in the mid-size segment.” The all-new Accord is available in five versions and three i-VTEC engines — the top-end 3.5 V6, with sunroof, features a 3.5-litre engine equipped with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM), a new generation of fuel-efficient technology. The 2.4 EL NAVI, 2.4 EL and 2.4 E all come with a 2.4-litre engine while the entry-level 2.0 E is equipped with a 2.0-litre engine. All versions feature 5-speed automatic transmission and Drive-By-Wire system. The top-of-the-line 3.5 V6 and 2.4 EL NAVI are equipped with a user-friendly Navigation System to guide the driver in reaching his destination easily, thereby saving time and fuel. Mr. Otaka also announced that the engines of all Honda 2008 car models will be compatible with gasohol E20, which will make Honda cars more appealing for Thai motorists who want to use alternative fuels. “Emerging trends on global climate change and concerns about rising oil prices are encouraging leaders, both in the public and private sectors, to search for and identify solutions. At Honda, we are putting our technology leadership to work to deliver high-performance, fuel efficient, Euro 4 emission standards and E20-compatible vehicles to meet the needs of motorists who are keen in using alternative fuels,” he said. When the new tax structure takes effect on 1 January 2008, the 5% lower excise tax will reduce prices of E20-friendly 2008 models in the following range: - Bht 30,000 — Bht. 40,000 for the Honda City - Bht 40,000 — Bht. 60,000 for the Honda Civic - Bht 60,000 — Bht. 90,000 for the Honda CR-V - Bht 80,000 — Bht. 110,000 for the all-new Honda Accord 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre engines The company will announce the revised prices of each E20-friendly Honda model within December 2007. In addition to the E20-friendly all-new 2008 Accord showcased at this year’s Motor Expo, Honda has also announced that the 2008 CR-V are all E20-compliant. Honda has also added a trendy Brilliant White, another favourite colour, to the CR-V line-up to meet the demands of its customers and CR-V fans. Customers who book and receive the Honda Jazz, City, Civic and CR-V models at the Motor Expo will be offered free a first-class insurance.
