Bangkok--3 Dec--Connect PR Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will today preside over World Allergy Congress 2007 (WAC 2007) hosted for the first time in Thailand at the Plenary Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center with aims to educate and enhance awareness of allergies. Over 3,500 delegates from allergy and related field are expected to attend WAC 2007 in Bangkok to learn about the latest advances in allergy and major allergic diseases of airways, skin and other organs. Prof. Dr. Pakit Vichyanond, President of The Allergy and Immunology Society of Thailand said that World Allergy Congress 2007 hosted by The Allergy and Immunology Society of Thailand in cooperation with World Allergy Organization (WAO), West-Pacific Allergy Organization and Asia Pacific Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (APAAACI) during December 2-6 is aimed to develop the knowledge and action plan leading to the scientific development with regard to allergy and immunology. At the same time, it aims to encourage the education and recognition or the cause, danger and prevention of allergy and immunology. The organizing committee is very grateful for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside over the grand opening ceremony as well as visiting the exhibitions in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Birthday. World Allergy Congress is being held every other year with the member societies in over 80 countries taking turn in being the host. At the conference, international specialists will present the lessons learned from research and monitoring about Allergy and Clinical Immunology worldwide and initiate a discussion on how to improve future structure and development of disease prevention and treatment methodology related to the diseases. According to World Health Organization (WHO), there is an increasing prevalence and trend of chronic allergic respiratory diseases worldwide. It is estimated that over 300 million people worldwide suffer from some form of allergic diseases and about 255,000 people suffer severely and die from the allergic diseases. While in Thailand, the information indicates that over 10 million Thais suffer from allergic diseases.
