Bangkok--7 Dec--GSM On behalf of the GSM Association, I am very pleased to invite you to participate in the “Affordable Mobile Broadband for All” Press Conference which will take place in Bangkok on December 14th, 2007: 14.00-16.00 hrs., at the Sofitel Centara Grand Bangkok, Ladprao, Phaholyothin2 Room, Mezzanine Fl., as you can see from the attached agenda. Currently, WCDMA/HSPA is the most widely deployed technology in the world in 2.1 GHz band, with more than 133.8 million subscribers globally and 164 networks in 73 countries, representing 68% of all commercial 3G networks. The introduction of HSPA-enabled Mobile Broadband has opened up new mobile business and consumer markets for low cost flat rate broadband access which will place a higher demand for additional spectrum above the requirement of the 3G core band (1920-1980MHz/2110-2170MHz), namely in the 2.5 GHz 3G extension band (2500-2690 MHz) which has the possibility of being globally harmonized. With the required spectrum, HSPA will become the most widespread form of broadband access in the world in the near future. We would be delighted if you can attend the press conference.
