Bangkok--27 Dec--Farh Agency Qualcomm is very exited about the wireless industry for 2008. Across the globe, we have seen very positive uptake of 3G services; so we believe 2008 will see our industry continue to grow exponentially as increased products and services — more compelling and less expensive - to attract even more consumers to jump aboard a new wireless lifestyle. At Qualcomm, we see huge growth potential in the emerging market of the world; we have placed extensive efforts in our R&D to ensure continued price reductions in devices to accommodate this growth. Our efforts in the development of single chip solutions — the first in the industry — have allowed vendors to design and manufacture devices at lower costs, yet achieve faster time to market. More importantly, with single chip solutions, manufacturers can now include more sophisticated functionalities into devices, for instance colour screens, cameras, music and video players and so on. In addition, ubiquitous connectivity to mobile broadband, together with unsurpassed processing performance and battery life will act as a catalyst for future innovation in devices - so would sophisticates audio and video solutions, delivering a cutting a cutting edge wireless experience to the consumer. The 3G industry will also grow significantly due to the availability of interesting value added services which will enhance consumers’ experience in wireless. For instance, we will see devices and operators supporting more sophisticated multimedia services which combine rich audio and video. We will also see increased uptake in GPS and other location-based services such as “friend finders”, restaurant locators and other mapping services. Mobile TV is of course a huge growth drive for 3G as well.Qualcomm’s mobile broadcasting solution, Media FLO, has made great strides in establishing technical partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the world, and we believe this market will grow from 2008 and beyond from a regulatory perspective to a commercial deployment standpoint. Specifically in Asia, we have engaged with various broadcasters and mobile service providers through technical trials, and we look forward to making Media FLO available in the region. 2008 will bring unprecedented opportunities for the industry. Wireless technology is rapidly becoming an important requirement in our daily lives - whether at work or play. From India to Japan, from Vietnam to Germany, consumers are realising the limitless boundaries of wireless connectivity With 422 commercial operators providing 3G service to 530 mil subscribers, Qualcomm believes that 3G is the right option to support wireless mobility in the years to come.
