Bangkok--15 Jan--Vivaldi Public Relations Qatar Airways has introduced a promotional shopping offer for passengers who book their tickets online through the airline’s new-look internet booking system. As a bonus for booking online, passengers departing from Bangkok will now be offered shopping vouchers worth 500 baht. The vouchers are redeemable at Central Department Stores, premier shopping destinations that are situated throughout Bangkok. The promotion runs until the end of February 2008. A limited number of vouchers are available on a first come first serve basis. Qatar Airways Senior Manager Commercial Operations for the Far East and Australasia, Marwan Koleilat explained that the promotion was designed to show appreciation for passengers who use the airline’s online booking services, as well as provide an incentive for passengers looking to book online for the first time. “We want our customers to be aware of the speed and convenience of booking directly with us online, as well as being able to find the best fares to their desired destination,” said Koleilat. Passengers anywhere in the world can now search for a Qatar Airways flight across its whole network, book and pay online and have tickets issued automatically through the website www.qatarairways.com. The new booking engine provides passengers with greater flexibility in making reservations from the comfort of their home or office 24 hours a day. One of the unique features of the new site is the lowest fare finder facility, which displays different flight options across a wide range of dates. The new booking engine offers online credit card payments and customers can choose to collect a paper ticket or receive an electronic ticket confirmation to their email address, issued instantly 24 hours a day, seven days a week upon confirmed bookings. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said as the airline was growing at an unprecedented rate, it was striving to ensure passengers were provided with more ease and greater levels of comfort during the booking process. "Qatar Airways has a committed strategy to develop the e-commerce side of our business," he said."As we grow our business, we recognise the importance of providing all our passengers with easier processes and our online booking engine definitely makes the booking procedure more convenient." Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, serving 81 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Far East, Indian subcontinent and North America from its hub of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. The airline also operates a modern fleet of 60 Airbus and Boeing aircraft. With a growing international network, Al Baker added that more travellers would have an opportunity to use Qatar Airways' brand new Premium Terminal at Doha International Airport, exclusively for transitting and departing First and Business Class passengers. The Premium Terminal features facilities such as a spa, Jacuzzi, duty free, business centre and fine dining restaurants. Built in just nine months, the US$90 million terminal is the world's first commercial passenger building dedicated to First and Business Class passengers.
