THAI Adjusts Fuel Surcharge on International Flights

Bangkok--16 Jan--Thai Airways Thai Airways International Public Company Limited announced that the airline will adjust its fuel surcharge, implemented on actual distance flown. The adjustment in fuel surcharge will include an increase and decrease on international flights, depending on flight time or distance, effective 10 January 2008 onwards. Mr. Pandit Chanapai, THAI’s Executive Vice President for Commercial, said that the adjustment in fuel surcharge was the result of increased fuel cost over the past year that effected commercial air carriers worldwide, which is in line with fuel surcharge adjustments made in the airline industry overall. The company will collect an increase in fuel surcharge from all passengers who fly THAI flights and issue air tickets from THAI’s sales offices and travel agents representing THAI overseas, effective as of 10 January 2008 onwards. Surcharge rates will apply per flight coupon for passengers on all THAI flights. - All international flights at a flying time of less than 2 hours per sector will be charged USD 25.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. - All international flights at a flying time of 2 to 3 hours per sector will be charged USD 30.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. - All international flights at a flying time of 3 to 4 hours per sector will be charged USD 35.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. - All international flights at a flying time of 4 to 8 hours per sector will be charged USD 55.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. - All international flights at a flying time of 8 to 14 hours per sector will be charged USD 95.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. - All international flights on the ultra long range sectors will be charged USD 105.00 or the equivalent per sector, per flight coupon. The increase in fuel surcharge applies to for air tickets issued or reissued within Thailand as of 21 December 2007 and air tickets issued or reissued worldwide as of 10 January 2008.
