Bangkok--6 Feb--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has renovated the Thai language education section of its website - www.set.or.th - to enable it to better serve a broader age group and provide more flexible investment advice, tailored to different lifestyles. This initiative is part of SET’s strategy of fostering a national investment culture under the theme: Living is Investing. The Exchange is keen that the Thai language education section on www.set.or.th satisfies people’s information and knowledge requirements. The website is well-positioned to become a center for money management and planning education, awakening people to the importance of savings and the financial rewards of diversification. Living is Investing is the theme of the SET Group’s market education, SET Market Education Division Chairman Punsak Vejanurug said. “The highlight of the renovated educational site is the guide to savings and investment for people ranging from 20 years to 50 and beyond,” he added. The site assists people to plan their finances from an early age, for example, in their 20s when they have just started a career and have few financial burdens. If people do not do this, they can face financial problems at a later age. It is prudent to plan for retirement early, even though it appears far away and so many people choose a short-term view. In fact, the sooner you start planning the better your finances become, Mr. Punsak noted. Aside from providing essential personal finance information, the site features interactive programs which assess one’s risk tolerance, preferred portfolio type and financial health. Visitors can learn about various financial instruments, apply for workshops and seminars from Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) or begin e-learning. “Living really is investing. Consequently, learning and exchanging information enriches us and makes us better able to handle risk. There is a space on this website dedicated to Thailand’s first Investment Wiki, where everybody can share their knowledge and build an encyclopedia which will benefit us all,” Mr. Punsak concluded.
