Bangkok--19 Feb--Hill & Knowlton DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, announced today that DHL Exel Supply Chain has secured a 3 ? year contract renewal with Central Food Retail (CFR), Thailand’s leading supermarket. DHL will provide warehouse management services comprising dry goods storage and stock replenishment at the customer’s 42,500 sqm distribution centre in the Greater Bangkok area for CFR’s Tops Supermarket chain comprising more than 100 outlets nationwide Commenting on the contract signing, Tony Goodfield, Director of Operations (Thailand) said “This is a particularly historic occasion for DHL Exel Supply Chain in Thailand, as Central Food Retail was Thailand’s first major contract win for the company in 1998 when we were selected against strong local and international competition, to construct and operate a 42,500sqm facility on a green field site in the northern outskirts of Bangkok, from which today 100+ stores are served nationally. It is also exciting to note that we will soon be celebrating our10 years relationship with Central Food Retail in Thailand” Alistair Taylor, SVP Operations and Business Support .of Central Food Retail commented “A compelling reason for Central Food Retail renewing the contract with DHL was that they were able to offer us a novel co-sharing arrangement. In essence, back-filling space is set aside at the existing warehouse for future expansion which means lower operating costs which we can pass on to our customer. To us this represents positive value, increases our competitiveness and is an excellent example of how a true partnership should be.” Tony Goodfield further added that the two companies were evaluating the adoption of cross-dock activities.
