Bangkok--26 Feb--SET Yesterday (February 25), The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) opened a Maruey Knowledge and Resource Center (MKRC) for financial and investment learning at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). The center (MKRC @ NIDA) will be available to students, teachers and the public. Synnex (Thailand) PCL provided the center’s new computers “NIDA greatly appreciates SET’s social commitment and support in establishing this learning center. The initiative is of immense benefit to students, teachers and the public, who can now deepen their understanding of finance and investment and apply this knowledge in their lives. The center also facilitates NIDA’s efforts to produce high quality human resources which, in turn, contribute to the Thai economy and capital market,” NIDA Council Chairman Mr. Chirayu Issarangkul Na Ayutthaya. The Exchange is delighted to work with NIDA in transforming its Student Center into a new learning initiative. The center, with its new equipment and facilities, will foster a positive savings and investment learning environment, building knowledge and understanding of financial affairs among the public and prospective investors, SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai said. “MKRC @ NIDA is like a branch of the Maruey Knowledge and Resource Center and is the third such place to be established, following the ones at the SET building and the Esplanade Shopping Complex. Up-to-date and user-friendly technology, with online information services connected to the SET Smart system which is a key source of listed company data, enables students, teachers, local residents and the general public to study independently and conveniently,” Ms. Patareeya said. The center, which is open everyday from 08:00 to 24:00 hours, is on the first floor of NIDA’s General Building. Its 440 square-meters are divided into six zones: Library, Reading, Education, SET Corner, Coffee and Internet. Synnex (Thailand) PCL has provided a free computer service at the front of the center. SET and NIDA had signed an agreement in mid-2005 to promote savings and investment education and understanding to students, teachers and the public. Under that agreement, the Exchange provided a SET Corner and the SET Smart system at the Innovation Center in the School of Business Administration and at the Student Center where the new MKRC @ NIDA is now.
