Bangkok--26 Feb--FAQ e-Cop, the leading managed risk and information security services provider reinforces its commitment to raise info-security awareness in Thailand with the launch of its first Info-security symposium 2008 in Bangkok. First in a series of events in the pipeline this year, the seminar aims to educate the market on business risks associated to information technology and to introduce its holistic approach to strengthening organisations’ security posture and ability to meet local legal requirements. “We started our 24x7 security monitoring when there were no other companies doing it in the region and since 2001 we have been publishing e-Security Index which tracks the trend of cyber attacks in the Asia Pacific region. This intelligence is gathered via our global network of Global Command Centres (GCC) and its relevance is in the fact that it is focused on the APAC region whereas most reports in the market are either from US or Europe which does not significantly reflect the real trend in our region, At the forefront of info-security intelligence, e-Cop’s monthly publication reports the attack sources as well as the attack types, detailing the hacking tools and vulnerabilities exploited by hackers. On top of the monthly and quarterly indices, e-Cop also releases e-Breaking News, an early warning and threats notification to its clients, broadcasting the latest security exploits monitored by its GCC and advises preventive measures and resolutions” said Mr. Lim Kok Keng, Managing Director and Regional VP of e-Cop. "The fast-evolving information security landscape requires enterprises to be constantly updated on the latest trends of security threats to be able to manage its risks. We are pleased to be working closely with our local partners to bring the Thai market up-to-date with the emerging threats and challenges to info-security. It is another milestone in our effort to fortify our alliances in the local market,” added Lim. “To address development and challenges in local context, we are also studying the latest Cyber Law closely to help organisations better meet their legal requirements. Thai Government’s enforcement of the Computer Crime Act requires businesses to keep computer traffic data for at least ninety days and even longer on special cases, as part of evidence on cyber crime investigation. Companies or Service Providers who fail to do so will be subjected to fine of up to Bht500,000 under Section 26 of the Act. They will also be subjected to further accumulative fine if they are not able to provide the necessary traffic data as requested by the authority for investigation. To help Companies and Service Providers cope with this requirement, e-Cop launched its Cyclops Enterprise Log Manager (CELM) which is powered by our award-winning proprietary technology and is capable of storing and analysing traffic and logs information captured by different network and security devices. We are confident that our leading know-how in information security can help organisations not only to ensure regulatory compliance but also to better manage the threats and risks posed by the emerging trends and challenges in info-security,” Lim further commented. Lim sums it up by adding: ”Today in Thailand, with the Law in place and with an improvement in corporate governance, info-security is no longer an issue that organisations can ignore. Action has to be taken and companies will be looking at either managing security in-house or to outsource to a third party with the relevant expertise. With its local operation in Bangkok, e-Cop is in a good position to offer both the outsourcing services as well as technology solution to provide our customers with greater choices.” Recognised as a pioneer in its field, e-Cop today operates the largest number of Global Command Centres in the region, that leverage on its proprietary Cyclops Enterprise Security Management (CESM) technology, world standard BS7799/ISO27001 certified processes and know-how, and fully qualified security consultants. e-Cop’s expertise in Managed Security Services (MSS) and strong track record in developing and running Security Operations Centres (SOC) has helped many enterprises and government agencies to cost effectively outsource and manage their information security needs. The company’s technologies are fully backed by its dedicated R&D expertise that ensures continued technological advantage. Expanding beyond the outsourced MSS market, e-Cop has innovatively commercialised the same operating Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technologies which are employed in-house, to provide robust security solutions and support to its clients for their internal use. Its suite of highly-customised Professional Security Services (PSS) has also earned a strong traction among its clients.
