Bangkok--10 Mar--Thai Airways Thai Airways International has outlined at the world’s largest trade show, ITB in Berlin, Germany an aggressive campaign to attract European tourists to Thailand. The aim is to attract more Germans, French and Scandinavian people to Thailand. One key new attraction will be connections through Bangkok’s new Suvarnabhumi Airport directly to the popular island resort of Koh Samui. On 15 February THAI began twice weekly flights to Koh Samui for the first time. This year, THAI is presenting a newly designed promotional booth in the “Thailand” exhibition area at ITB to reinforce this campaign and to emphasise its worldwide network as well as its products and services. By doing this THAI took the opportunity to create awareness in the German market of its flight operations to Samui. Reinforcing THAI’s strategy of positioning Europe as an important market, THAI is also focusing on the MICE market and offering through its popular Royal Orchid Holidays service new products to top customers in 2008. Premium products such as Discover Thailand will offer the complete vacation in the Land Of Smiles. Other ROH offerings such as Discover The World, which focuses on THAI’s worldwide destinations; Worldwide Stopovers, offering hotel stopover accommodation at over 60 THAI destinations and Golf In Thailand, featuring more than 30 first class golf courses will be heavily promoted. In addition THAI has also introduced its newest offering, a completely different shift in brand focus, The Great Escape, or THAI’s HIP programme offers customers, through ROH, the opportunity to stay at some of the world’s premier boutique hotels.
