Bangkok--18 Mar--124 COMMUNICATIONS G Steel Public Company Limited (G Steel) together with Dongbu Steel, a major cold rolled steel producer in Korea, have agreed to sign the MOU on technology transfer and technical assistance of integrated hot rolled coil production. G Steel will provide on job training to Dongbu Steel’s personnel at G Steel production plant in Rayong. Moreover, once the 2.5 MTPA Dongbu Steel’s hot rolled coil plant in Korea is finally completed and ready for commercial production in second half of 2009, G Steel will send its HRC production experts to Korea in order to transfer the technology know-how on site. After exploring and comparing among leading integrated HRC, Dongbu has preferably asked G Steel to provide this technology transfer and technical assistance of integrated hot rolled coil production based on G Steel’s world-class-state-of-the-art facilities and well qualified with high experienced management team. The amicable negotiation and agreement is finalized and MOU is signed at Arnoma hotel, Rajdamri In addition, the technology transfer and technical assistance of integrated hot rolled coil production should be starting around last half of this year and completed at the end of 2009. Based on this agreement, G Steel is compensated with an undisclosed fee. As one of the leading integrated HRC producers in ASEAN, G Steel had transferred its technology know-how to Steel producers in China as well as in Vietnam in the past. The integrated facilities consist of several processes start with Steel Making, Medium Slab Casting and Hot Rolled Coil (HRC). G Steel production capacity is at 3.4million tons per year after completion of the expansion project. Currently, G Steel is producing 1.8 million tons per year of HRC to substitute import and also export to oversea market. Currently, G Steel has become an alliance with Nakorn Thai Strip Mill (NSM) another major hot rolled coil producers in Thailand, whose capacity will reach 3.0 MTPA after its expansion. At present, NSM capacity is at 1.5 MTPA with additional value added lines, which are skinpass line, pickle and oiled line, and soon to be completed galvanizing line.
