Bangkok--25 Mar--Hill & Knowlton TippingPoint Security Experts to Outline Top Threats and Provide Security Recommendations TippingPoint, a leader in intrusion prevention, today conducted the Bangkok leg of a seminar series designed to enable IT and security executives to address the top network attacks and emerging threats and provide security recommendations for comprehensive enterprise defense and risk compliance. Scheduled through the months of March and May, the seminar series is covering 11 cities throughout the Asia Pacific region. The first half of the two-part briefing focuses on emerging trends across the threat landscape. Insights into attack techniques used on Web application servers, which are becoming an attractive financial target for criminals due to their accessibility to back-end database servers and other sophisticated and dangerous attacks targeting critical network vulnerabilities including VoIP and SCADA were covered. “The past two years have been a rich play of application vulnerabilities from the server to user perspective,” said Neal Hartsell, TippingPoint’s worldwide Vice President of Marketing. “Attackers have started turning towards Web applications for compromise since both open source and custom Web applications have been found to be riddled with numerous vulnerabilities. Web server vulnerabilities have, in turn, fueled the compromise of desktop systems via user application vulnerabilities. It has become an easy trick to take over a Web site or host a malicious Web site remotely and attack any users directed to the site,” Hartsell added. The briefing also concentrated on emerging technologies and business trends in information security and their potential business impact. Neal Hartsell, TippingPoint’s worldwide vice president of marketing also discussed an innovative platform approach that organizations are evolving toward for securing their networks. “The three principle concerns of organizations center on keeping bad traffic off the network; controlling who and what accesses the network; and ensuring critical data does not leave the network,” said Neal Hartsell. “But that’s a large and seemingly disparate charter, so the question becomes how these topics are related and how they can be addressed through a cohesive network security solution model that is technically and economically viable.” In the seminar, TippingPoint also announced the availability of the TippingPoint? Core Controller, an in-line, network-based appliance that enables 10 Gigabits per second (GBPS) of bi-directional traffic inspection by TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) to protect network resources, operating systems and critical applications from malicious threats. “The TippingPoint Core Controller is a completely new approach to providing IPS scalability and redundancy for 10Gbps networks,” said Sean Charnock, VP of Business Development of Softlayer Technologies, Inc. “With over 100G’s of bandwidth capacity, Softlayer has chosen to use the TippingPoint solution because of its performance security accuracy and ease of manageability. The Core Controller is just further evidence of TippingPoint’s innovation and commitment to comprehensive network security.” “With the mainstream proliferation of 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks, traditional security products can no longer perform at the capacity and speed required for business continuity and compliance,” said Sugiarto Koh, Regional Sales Director of TippingPoint ASEAN. “The combination of the TippingPoint Core Controller and IPS enables enterprises and service providers to ensure the security of their network infrastructure keeps up with the demands of 10 Gbps bandwidth expansion without compromising network availability or user productivity.”Add IPS Capacity Incrementally as Bandwidth Requirements Increase The TippingPoint Core Controller offers organizations an economical entry for IPS protection on existing 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) networks. They can purchase the IPS capacity initially required, and add more capacity as traffic inspection needs increase.Accelerate Deployment with an Easy to Manage Solution The TippingPoint Core Contoller’s Intelligent Learning Mode enables rapid deployment by analyzing network traffic on each 10GbE segment and providing recommendations for selecting the optimal flow balancing traffic algorithms — saving valuable configuration time for network and security engineers.
