Bangkok--1 Apr--Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Keeping its position as the design trendsetter, Habitat (Thailand) has just released phase two of its incredibly successful ‘Green Bag Project’ in the design leaders bid to eradicate the use of plastic bags throughout Thailand. The ‘Green Bag Project’ was initially the brainchild of three International School of Bangkok students as part of their school assignment on ways to stop global warming. Habitat was so impressed with the student’s enthusiasm that it decided to co-sponsor the project which has now seen over 6000 environmentally friendly bags sold in Bangkok alone. The response to the environmentally friendly bags has been so successful that other multinational companies including the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority started their own campaigns to reduce the use of plastic bags throughout the nation. Habitat has continued the successful campaign to bring out the latest shopping bag made from all natural environmentally friendly canvas. Brent D. Smith, Chief Marketing Officer, Habitat Thailand explains, “As a retailer, we believe we have a responsibility to educate and change the trends of our consumers that will in turn have a positive effect on the environment. “We are incredibly happy of the success of the first phase of the ‘Green Bag Project’ and our new Green Bag 002 is all part of our ongoing initiative to show how one small change in our customer’s way of thinking can make a large difference to the environment,” Mr. Smith said. Celebrity and educator Apiphawadee Kruesopon was one of the first customers to purchase the new Green Bag 002, “It’s wonderful to see Habitat’s commitment to eradicating plastic bags in Thailand. As an educator and a mother it’s important to start educating future generations on the effects plastic has on the environment and Habitat’s Green Bag initiative is yet another sign of the increasing awareness of this issue — I applaud Habitat’s commitment to making a cleaner and safer environment for everyone.” Habitat’s Green Bag 002 is now on sale on the 4th and 5th Floor of Siam Discovery. Picture shows: Apipawadee Kruesopon believes that it’s never too late to start teaching her two daughters Pleng and Pyn on the importance of using Habitat’s environmentally friendly shopping bags.
