"KaraMucho Potato Chips", a new spicy hot potato snack brand from Japan, is making its debut today to bring a whole new snacking experience to snack lovers in Thailand. A full-fledged marketing campaign including TV commercials and sales promotional activities is set to be kicked off to build brand awareness and product trial.
Mr. Masaaki Sato, Senior Director -- R&D and International Business of Frente Co., Ltd., said that KaraMucho is a very successful potato snack brand in Japan with maximum yearly sales around 80,000 million yen. "KaraMucho has been a big hit in Japan since its first launch in 1984 up until today. When it was first launched, there were not any hot and spicy-flavored potato snacks available in the Japanese market. So, KaraMucho became an instant hit and opened a new booming era for spicy hot snacks," said Mr. Sato.
According to Mr.Sato, KaraMucho is now introduced in Thailand to tap into the country's fast-growing snack segment. "Snack market in Thailand is one of the fastest growing, with continued growth expected to reach 200 percent in year 2008 as compared to year 2000. The potato snack segment in particular will grow by 243 percent, which is the largest in the snack category."
Moreover, hot flavored and uniquly cut potato snacks are one of the most "trendy" snacking fashions among consumers today. Accordingly, KaraMucho is bringing to the consumers two exciting choices of the hot-flavored potato chips and potato sticks for even better snacking experiences.
