Bangkok--25 Apr--JWT Public Relations Manpower (Thailand), a world leading Human Resources Consultant Service, supports the Missing Children Statistic Centre-The Mirror foundation, to help fight against Human Trafficking. The Centre's statistics shows that the number of missing people, during the school break, increases almost every year. Particularly, children aged 11-15 years old, a group most at risk to fall as victims to sexual servitude. Moreover, the company calls for a joint effort in creating awareness through public relations as well as cooperation in reporting clues to the where about of the missing children. So as to return them, safely home, as soon as possible. Ms. Thitima Meeparn, Head of Missing Children Statistics Centre-The Mirror foundation - Non-Governmental Organization established with a mission to act as a center for missing people reports and coordination, since 2003 to present, April 21st 2008, that the centre has received a total of 1,006 missing person’s reports, out of which 340 were males and 666 were females. A detailed study of the statistics shows that 589 cases were children and youth. Thus, it can be concluded that, this group has the highest risk in becoming missing from home, where the main reason for the disappearance is for the purpose of sexual servitude. A thorough analysis revealed the main reason behind children being missing from home, is due to children being lured into sexual abuse. One of the factor contributes to putting children at risk are the activities they have engaged in during the school semester break, such as, taking extra tutorial classes, being out with friends, playing online games or taking up a job. Though these activities benefited the children but they come with hidden danger. As it provides an opportunity for children to make connection with unfamiliar persons, it exposes them to activities that may develop as an addiction. Especially online games, as their attentions are drawn to the computer without the desire to interact with others. As a result, online games become a crucial part of their life, without it, their reason for living deteriorates all together. Furthermore, when they are forced to stop playing, these children would choose to disappear from home, away from the whines and complaints, in order to play the games else where. These children choose to live outside the home on their own and soon grow into wanderers. When forced to take up a job, they may not have the opportunity for legitimate jobs. As a result, they are forced to commit crimes for living, turning them into juvenile delinquents. Therefore, to prevent missing children from home and turning into juvenile delinquents, families must be alert and prepare activities to attract them away from the computer and other activities that isolate them from others, during the school semester break, as well as, take the opportunity to build stronger families ties. Ms. Thitima added that the Missing Children Statistic Centre in combat against Human trafficking -The Mirror Foundation calls upon all related entities to:- 1. Allocate a space for the purpose of public relations, promote campaigns and publications to trace missing children in all media. 2. To put up missing children notices in high-risk areas to warn people of the danger. 3. To conduct investigation of human traffickers or carry out urgent search on missing children. 4. Request that the general public to take part in reporting a missing child or if they know of any information, to the police, in order to carry out urgent search and investigation.
