Bangkok--29 Apr--Thaicom THAICOM Public Company Limited (SET BKK: THCOM), Asia’s leading commercial satellite operator and the operator of the IPSTAR satellite broadband system, today has announced that the Company is seeing a rise in the number of television channels and telecommunication services using its conventional satellites during the first quarter of 2008. During this period, THAICOM has been awarded twenty-two (22) contracts representing strong growth in the demand of satellite bandwidth services on the THAICOM platform. The total value of these contracts is US$33 million (or approximately THB1,056 million). New customers on THAICOM 5 satellite include operators such as Airtel (India), Korhinoor Broadcasting (India), PAK Television Network (Pakistan), and AKS Communication (Pakistan). Mr. Komson Seripapong, THAICOM Plc.’s Head of Marketing for THAICOM Satellites said, “In the first quarter of 2008, the Company welcomed 11 new television channels onto the THAICOM-5 satellite, bringing the total number of channels to over 240 on a single platform. Many of these are using the Company’s THAICOM Teleport and DTH Center at Ladlumkaew, Pathumthani Province. Apart from the high growth IPSTAR business, our THAICOM conventional satellite business is still a major source of revenue for the Company,” said Komson. “It not only reflects the trust they place on our services, but is an indication of the continued growth we expect from this business in 2008.”About THAICOM Plc.
