Siam Gas is expected to start trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, under the Energy and Utilities Sector early next month. KTB Securities is the lead underwriter. Mr. Supachai Weeraborwornpong, Managing Director of Siam Gas and Petrochemicals Public Company Limited, one of the largest Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) professional traders in Thailand, said “Siam Gas has held a signing ceremony to appoint KTB Securities as the lead underwriter for our initial public offering, with seven co-underwriters including Kim Eng (Thailand) Plc., ACL Securities Co., Ltd., AIRA Securities (Thailand) Plc., Capital Nomura Securities Plc., KGI Securities (Thailand) Plc., Merchant Partner Securities Plc., and Siam City Securities Co., Ltd.” For over 30 years has the company been operating and seeing good operating performance. The company always keeps up with the standards and offers quality products, thus able to continually secure increasing customer base in the past 30 years. Siam Gas operates two major businesses, including trading of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), ammonia and other petrochemical products by the brand names “Siam Gas” and Unique Gas” and transporting of gasoline, Liquid Petroleum Gas, ammonia and other petrochemical products. There are three groups of customers: The first is those who use LPG as cooking gas (approximately 51.7%). The second is autogas customers who use LPG as fuel (25.5%) for example, LPG filling stations and LPG converted automobile users such as taxis. The third is industrial LPG users (9.5%) such as industrial plants. The business goals of Siam Gas are to become one of Southeast Asia’s leading companies that are engaged in energy businesses, maintain the market share for LPG business (currently the 2nd place in Thailand), keep up with the company’s standard service quality and gives importance to safety in all business operations. “The proceeds from the offering will be used to expand 20 more autogas stations in Bangkok and upcountry, of which 10 stations will use the brand name “Siam Gas” and the other 10 “Unique Gas”. Also, the funds will be spent to build LPG depots and gas filling plants in Vietnam,” said Mr. Supachai. Mr. Chupong Tanasettakorn, Managing Director of KTB Securities Company Limited, the lead underwriter, said “The IPO price of Siam Gas is set at 8 Baht per share. The price very well attracts retail investors and institutional investors, so we believe that this is the appropriate price for the current market sentiment. Investors who invest in Siam Gas IPO are expected to receive satisfying returns. An important factor to point out is that major revenue streams of the company are from LPG trading, which has good growth tendency due to the increasing demand for LPG on the backdrop of rising oil prices. Therefore, more automobile owners opt for alternative energy such as gasohol, LPG or NGV. However, LPG has many outstanding benefits. For example, NGV filling takes longer than LPG filling, and NGV filling stations are 153 in number, lower than 236 LPG filling stations nationwide. Also, to reduce the risk associating automobiles running on LPG be changed to use NGV, Siam Gas plans to develop its LPG filling stations to be able to offer NGV as well. Thus, Siam Gas shares are an appropriate investment at present. The company is expected to list in the Stock Exchange of Thailand in early June, after the subscription period.” Siam Gas and Petrochemicals Public Company Limited is offering 280 million IPO shares, of which 260 million shares will be offered to the public and no more than 20 million shares to the company’s executives and employees.
