BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY TOUR
Vietnam today still remains as one of the three most attractive investment areas in Asia. With its
economy still on the right track of development and the government of Vietnam making all efforts
to stabilize the market, stock market activities are expected to increase with foreigners still buying
into the market as domestic traders keep selling across board. The recent announcement by
Vietnam’s National Assembly to lower corporate income tax to 25 per cent from 28 per cent from
2009 onwards will also help to create a favorable investment environment and provide more
incentives for investment opportunities to take root. In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s
foreign direct investment (FDI) reached US$7.2 billion, 53 per cent more than the same period
last year. The increase in FDI investment is a positive signal for the country’s economy despite
recent challenges to the country’s economic growth targets.
The Vietnam Investment Summit will be bringing together a group of international participants
consisting of fund managers, private equity investors, high net worth investors, directors of
securities brokerage firms as well as senior executives of overseas stock exchanges from within
the regions to Vietnam for an in-depth look at the Vietnam capital market, as well as its revenue
generating possibilities. This summit provides a timely and strategic platform to convene investors
from across the entire Asia-Pacific region to discuss strategies, leverage opportunities and
explore potential cross-borders business partnerships.
The study tour forms part of the framework for the Vietnam Investment Summit and is scheduled
to take place on May 30th 2008. Held in conjunction with Vietnam’s Mega Investor event, Asia
Trader and Investor Convention @ Ho Chi Minh City (ATIC@HCMC), a collaboration between
HOSE and NextVIEW Group, the tour offers first-hand exposure to the current investment climate
in Vietnam, the opportunity to meet key industry players as well as to gain an insight into the
vibrant economic sectors in Vietnam.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This is a strategic, informative and concise program designed for senior representatives or
professionals with Financial Services Organizations such as Fund Management Houses,
Securities Brokerage Firms, Securities Exchanges and other finance-related institutions. This
includes Chief Financial Officers, Chief Operating Officers, Asset Managers and operational
professionals. The group will also include high net worth Investors as well as invited foreign
guests of the HOSE or NextView Group.
In order to ensure maximum benefit for each delegate, participation is limited to a maximum of
100 foreign delegates from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, China and Korea.
