Bangkok--20 May--SET Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX) signs a memorandum of understanding with Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) to strengthen relations, exchange information, and foster other collaborations in the future. Today (May 16) TFEX signed a MOU with CBOE, one of the US’ most active options market, to foster relationship as well as other collaborations in the future, TFEX Chairman Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya said. CBOE Executive Vice President-Corporate Planning & Research Richard DuFour and Managing Director, Asian Affairs, Eugene Zheng represented CBOE at the signing ceremony. “TFEX and CBOE have been keeping good relations. The MOU is an important step for TFEX development in that it can learn from a world-leading organization like CBOE,” Mr. Pakorn said. TFEX Managing Director Kesara Manchusree added that CBOE has long experience as an options exchange. TFEX has actually learned from CBOE in developing index options. This MOU signing should thus mark an important step for TFEX to further develop its products and services in line with international markets. About CBOE CBOE became operational in 1973. Its major products are options on stock, index, and interest. It’s the world’s renowned market for stock options and has the USA’s No.1 largest market for this product. In 2007, CBOE recorded the trading of 944,471,924 options contracts, increasing by 40% from the previous year. This is equal to USD 24 trillion, which is the largest options turnover in the world.
