Bangkok--21 May--Star PR CEVA, which recently merged with Eagle Global Logistics (EGL), has announced airfreight growth in Thailand of 26 per cent propelling it to the number one position in the IATA ranking for 2007. CEVA Thailand’s focus on key segments of growth such as automotive, information technology, and healthcare has paid dividends, resulting in it being only one of three companies in the top ten to record growth. “CEVA’s table-topping International Transport Air Association (IATA) airfreight sales volume of 2.88 billion baht is a result of understanding clients’ needs,” says Roy Tan, CEVA Thailand’s Country Manager Freight. “A big reason we are number one in airfreight today is that we understand what our customer’s needs are and how to make their business flow. If you understand your customer’s business, then you understand their needs. If you look from sector to sector, you will find that different criteria create different priorities for each sector.” While companies may change airfreight forwarders frequently to achieve lower costs, others find greater success entering into longer-term relationships like CEVA in which they treat their forwarders as partners. Mr. Tan added: “The outsourcing of logistics is growing significantly in Thailand and that growth has made us number one in the air cargo market in Thailand. We are able to provide complete solutions for our clients.” Tan explained that the company’s relationship with airlines was crucial to the growth. “Our Asia Pacific regional office works closely with us to ensure that our global relationships with airlines continue to offer maximum benefits for our customers.” CEVA Thailand employs a total of 2,900 people, operates more than 500 dedicated vehicles and trailers, and occupies 36 warehouses and shipping yards totalling 695,000 square meters. Our clients include both multinationals and local companies. Our growth in Thailand has been dynamic and mainly organic, an indication that CEVA customers derive real value from the services we provide.” In terms of services, CEVA offers the widest and most comprehensive range. It provides coverage to more than 100 countries, courier or hand-carried services, critical response services for urgent shipping needs, door-to-door or airport-to-airport or combination services, oversized cargo services and even worldwide charter services. Winfried Kiesbueye, Managing Director of CEVA Thailand, who headed the merger between CEVA and EGL, said that the union had been a success and the company expected growth of between 15-20% for 2008. “The merger of EGL into CEVA created a unique combination, each bringing its own strengths, clients and products as well as different sectors and geographical strengths. By combining the two companies, we have an ideal platform,” said Mr. Kiesbueye.
