UN SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN MYANMAR TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE

Bangkok--6 Aug--UNISBKK Bangkok (United Nations Information Services) -- The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar, Tom?s Ojea Quintana, is conducting his first mission to Myanmar this week. Mr. Ojea Quintana had received an invitation to visit from the MyanamrGovernment. His activities are expected to include meetings withrepresentatives of ethnic groups, political parties, religious groups, civil society and non-governmental organizations. Mr. Ojea Quintana will be in Thailand following his mission. He will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 13 August, at the Theatre in the UN Conference Centre (UNCC), at the premises of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in Bangkok. ESCAP’s premises are located at: United Nations Building, Rajadamnern Nok Avenue, Bangkok, 10200 Media wishing to attend the press conference are kindly asked to be present by 10:45 a.m. Parking may be available for your vehicles at the UNCC, within the ESCAP premises.
