Bangkok--11 Jun--Hill & Knowlton Thailand Certification highlights DHL’s market leading position and commitment to best practices in supply chain management DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, announced today that DHL Exel Supply Chain recently received the ‘Contractor Health, Environment and Safety Management’ (CHESM) certification from Chevron Thailand. Chevron’s CHESM program helps ensure that its third-party service providers and suppliers perform to safety, health, environment, efficiency and reliability requirements consistent with Chevron’s expectations. The program entails an initial assessment and qualification of Chevron’s contractor partners (under which DHL was successfully certified), and subsequent periodic evaluations and assessments of the partner’s safety performance. “In the four years of our partnership DHL has proven to us that they understand all of our business requirements, and are willing to work with us to address issues and implement our operational excellence processes such as CHESM,” said Mr. Carlos Casta?os, Area Marketing Support Manager for Chevron Thailand. “DHL Exel Supply Chain’s performance and standards have met our expectations and this recent CHESM certification is a proof of that. We look forward to their continuing support to further build upon learnings and improvements made to date as it relates to our safety performance expectations, and overall future business growth.” As part of the assessment, DHL’s performance and standards were initially reviewed under the CHESM process, and then certified for its successful compliance to the high standards set out under the program. Key performance criteria used to determine who receives this certification include safety, timeliness and cost-savings to Chevron Thailand. “I think the CHESM program is particularly useful as it relates to issues of everyday activities, including transportation. This certification program reminds us that whenever we do any task, there are some risks involved and we must always put safety first,” added Steve Daniel, Senior Vice President Indo-China & South Asia, DHL Exel Supply Chain. “Placing the well-being of all employees and contractors first is an important step in creating a productive and safe work environment, which in turn increases productivity and performance.” DHL started providing its best-in-class services to Chevron Thailand at its Bangna Site in 2003. DHL currently provides warehouse management and transportation for 211 Caltex convenience stores, ‘Star Mart’, which are part of Chevron Thailand. DHL services to Chevron also include the operations of 8,704 sq m of warehousing space on behalf of Chevron Thailand, part of a DHL facility located in Bang Yai.
