Bangkok--23 Jun--SET Muang Thai Insurance PLC will commence trading its securities on The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in the Insurance Sector, Financials Industry Group, on June 24, 2008, using “ MTI ” as their trading symbol, SET Executive Vice President Vichate Tantiwanich said. The firm is the result of a merger between Phatra Insurance PCL and Muang Thai Insurance Co., Ltd. Its THB 590 million paid-up capital is made up of 59 million shares with a par value of THB 10.00 each. On its first trading day, as with other new listings, there will be no ceiling or floor prices on the main board. MTI’s main business is non-life insurance, with its income derived mainly from fire, marine, motor and miscellaneous insurance. Its major shareholders are Muangthai Fortis Holding Co., Ltd. with a 25.20% stake, the Lamsam family with 15.40% and Fortis Insurance International N.V. with 10.00 % of the company’s paid-up capital after IPO.
