Bangkok--4 Jul--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has signed memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with five higher education institutions : ( Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Chiang Mai University and Payap University and National Institute of Development Administration) to develop securities professionals for the Thai capital market. SET will work with the universities to build capital market or related majors as part of existing finance and investment curricula in the following undergraduate and postgraduate courses: Business Administration, Business Administration and Accounting and Finance and Banking. The Exchange will also support these universities in becoming centers for training for capital market professional licenses. “Financial market globalization has produced rapid change and evolution in both the markets themselves and their products. All this creates an urgent demand for people who understand today’s new markets and instruments. Consequently, the bourse’s support for higher education development will benefit all parties,” SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai said. The MOUs promote university research into financial and capital markets and cooperation with SET Research Institute in selecting study topics. The Exchange will also provide two fellowships each year for financial market academics to receive hands-on experience in their fields. The Exchange will also encourage students majoring in finance to intern with financial and investment institutions and lower fees for licensing examinations.
