Bangkok--22 Jul--Thana Burin Asia Pacific Thailand Bodybuilding team is at the forefront of the international bodybuilding and fitness competitions during the 2008 Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships (42nd Men’s Bodybuilding, 25th Women’s Bodybuilding, 21st Men’s Junior Bodybuilding, 10th Men’s Master Bodybuilding, 5th Ms Fitness and Ms Body Fitness and 2nd Mr Fitness) in Hong Kong last weekend. The Thai team won 7 gold medals and 3 silver medals plus the highest score among countries participating at the competition. The 11 bodybuilding and fitness athletes of Thailand Bodybuilding Association have done the over-expected results with 7 gold medals and 3 silver medals. Athletes who have brought home with 7 gold medals for Thailand are Krit Bhumisirikul in Men’s Junior Bodybuilding up to 65 kg beating Vietnam (silver) and South Korea (bronze). Somkid Sumethowetchakul wins 1st place in Men’s Bodybuilding up to 65 kg; whilst athlete from Vietnam holds silver and Oman athlete holds bronze. Last year Men’s Master Champion Pala Meechai was able to win again this year in Men’s Master aged not over 55 years old, whilst the 2nd place was from China and Hong Kong won the 3rd place. Wanchai Kanchanapimai, won champions for two consecutive years in fitness competition, while silver and bronze medal winners were Kazakhstan and India respectively. Thai two women athletes also did well holding 3 gold medals. Apiporn Chomsomboon won gold medal in Women’s Bodybuilding up to 55 kg. Her competitors from South Korea won silver medal and China won bronze medal. Roontawan Jindasing won 2 gold medals from Ms Fitness over 160 cm, while silver winner was from Kazakhstan and United Arabs Emirates won bronze winner. The other gold medal was from Women’s Bodyfitness over 160 cm while Kazakhstan got silver and Hong Kong with bronze medal. The three silvers Thailand team won were from Wanchai Sangsuriya in Men’s Junior bodybuilding up to 75 kg, Jeerapan Pongkam in Men’s Bodybuilding up to 55 kg and Apiporn Chomsomboon in Ms Fitness up to 160 cm.
