Bangkok--23 Jul--Hill & Knowlton Thailand Store and share computer files wherever you are with Windows Live SkyDrive Free online file management solution offers 5GB storage space and password-protected “anywhere access” Microsoft has launched the Thai version of Windows Live SkyDrive, a free online tool for storing and sharing computer files. With up to 5GB of storage space, SkyDrive acts as a virtual memory stick on which people can save, share and access files whenever they access the internet. Representing the latest free service to be launched under the Windows Live umbrella, members of the public can start using their SkyDrive account today simply by visiting http://skydrive.live.com or by activating the SkyDrive tab on their Windows Live account. The process of uploading files is much the same as attaching a file to an email and once uploaded, files can be classified for personal, shared or public use. All uploaded files, whether they are photos, movies or documents, can then be shared with anyone who has email access simply by typing in that person’s e-mail address. This will result in an email being sent to that person with instructions on how they can access the shared file. Alternatively, SkyDrive can also be used to store important personal files which are protected by the user’s Windows Live ID username and password. “We are delighted to launch the Thai version of Windows Live SkyDrive, and we truly believe Thai consumers will enjoy its many practical benefits,” said Mr. Barrie Ooi, Regional Product Manager Microsoft. “The service should prove particularly useful for those who frequently need to send or transfer files which are too big to send by e-mail. With 5GB free storage space and ‘anywhere access’, Windows Live SkyDrive provides an alternative for sharing those large files which might otherwise have to be written onto a CD or copied to a thumb drive and then physically transferred between computers.” SkyDrive is the latest service to be offered by Microsoft under the Windows Live umbrella of free online services which includes Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Spaces and Windows Live Photo Gallery.
