Photo Release: Chevron fights against global warming with tree planting at Khao Yai National Park

Bangkok--24 Jul--Chevron Recently employees of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. led by Joe Geagea (3rd right) Managing Director of Chevron Asia South Ltd. and Mechai Viravaidya (4th right) Board Chairman of Population and Community Development Association (PDA), together with students and locals from nearby communities altogether around 300, have planted saplings at Khao Yai National Park, Nakhon Ratchasima province. The recent tree planting activity is a continuation of Chevron’s “Carbon Bank” project started since 2002. The project is aimed to promote tree planting as well as built local people ownership in order to sustain the forest area and ecology in Khao Yai National Park. Under this project, a community fund was also granted to the villagers for the forest protection and sustainable career development. At present, more than 25,000 trees in 12 rais of land have been planted.
