Produced in a limited series of 175 pieces which the only one piece to be unveiled at Central International Watch Fair 2008, this jewel-watch is adorned with 175 diamonds and celebrates with great refinement the anniversary of the company, located in Saint-Imier. This watch takes its inspiration from a piece created by Longines in the 1920s — a golden period as regards feminine refinement. Taking the form of a rectangular case in 18-carat white gold, this example of the nonetheless timeless elegance claimed by the firm is adorned with decorative knots around its border. The face delicately displays the black steel hands and is protected by a scratchproof sapphire glass. Fitted with a glossy white leather strap, the timepiece epitomises and renews Longines' historic aesthetic values. In addition, the maison with the winged hourglass has endowed this magnificent piece with a dazzling array of 175 0.671-carat Top Wesselton VVS diamonds to commemorate the years the firm has been committed to providing watchmaking excellence in the world of elegance. In addition, there will be Les El gantes de Longines 2008, new variations on the Art Deco theme, on show. The 7th and limited edition of Les El gantes de Longines draws its inspiration from historical Longines models dating from 1917 and 1918. Mining the artistic riches of the early 20th century, the trio of watches revisits the enchanting Art Deco influence of the Roaring Twenties with a charm as dazzling as it is irresistible. Combining the talents of watchmakers, jewellers, and goldsmiths, the pieces presented this year stand out through the harmonious reinterpretation of their architecture. The three elegant models are available in stylised rectangle, oval, or tonneau shapes, which echo the Art Deco movement and continue Longines’ illustrious history as a pioneer in designing and making specially shaped watches since the 1910s.
