Bangkok--7 Aug-- Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Somchai Wongsawat (3rd right) together with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee (3rd left) presided over the Press Conference and Memorandum-of-Understanding (M.O.U.) signing ceremony between the Ministry of Education and the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD) for the Knowledge Center Project. The M.O.U was signed by Dr. Charuaypon Torranin (2nd right), Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Dr. Narongchai Akrasanee (2nd left), Chairman of OKMD, Dr. Chinnapat Bhumirat (right) Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Dr. Rom Hiranpruk (left), Director of OKMD. This ceremony was recently held at the Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC), 6th floor, The Emporium Shopping Complex. The Knowledge Center Project is jointly managed by OKMD and the Ministry of Education by developing existing public libraries under the Ministry of Education into innovative knowledge resource centers for the locals that are equipped with modern learning technology and media. In addition, insertion of new knowledge content and localized knowledge-based activities that are directly linked to local occupations will encourage people to spend more time delightfully in these Knowledge Centers. The pioneer project is targeted in 10 provinces initiating its first phase in Chiangmai and Ubonratchathani, scheduled for public use in early 2009.
