Bangkok--8 Aug--Francom Asia Luxury property developer Raimon Land has taken its corporate social responsibility commitments to new levels with the sponsorship of a baby female calf elephant, Pang Raimon, who was born recently at the Anantara Elephant Camp in the north of Thailand. The 90-kilo baby elephant was delivered in the early hours of the morning and struggled to its feet within 30 minutes of birth and took a few slightly unsure steps. Both first-time Mum, Bua Tong, and baby Raimon are in good health and have quickly become the stars of the elephant camp. The sponsorship commitment is for the duration of the elephant’s life and will ensure Pang Raimon lives as close as possible to her natural environment and will also provide care for her mahout. Raimon Land Chief Executive Officer, Nigel Cornick, said: “We take our social responsibility programme very seriously, committing two per cent of all revenue earned from the sales of our luxury condominiums, to projects that provide a positive contribution to Thailand. “The elephant is an outstanding symbol for the Kingdom in the international community, and rightly much loved and respected among Thai people. Through this commitment to Pang Raimon we hope to emphasise the tremendous value of elephants and make a contribution to the excellent work that is done at the Anantara Elephant Camp.” The elephant camp is home to 31 elephants rescued from their former existence in major cities such as Bangkok and is aligned with the activities of the Thai government’s Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang and the National Elephant Institute. The camp also cares for elephants who compete in the prestigious King’s Cup elephant polo events, another event of which Raimon Land is a major sponsor. Raimon Land sponsors more than 20 charitable, educational and environmental sustainability projects a year, including the sponsorship of a nursery under the Plant A Tree Today Foundation, where plants will be grown for Raimon Land to offset all its carbon emissions.
