Bangkok--14 Aug--Canon Marketing Thailand Canon is going to host a special photo competition entitled “Canon Photo Marathon Thailand 2008” for the 2nd consecutive year. This year the competition is open to 1,000 participants, after the first photo marathon held in Thailand last year was very well received. Mr. Wataru Nishioka, President and CEO of digital-camera market leader Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd, said: “The upcoming Canon Photo Marathon Thailand 2008 is held for the second consecutive year, following a good feedback from the first competition last year. For this year we are going to recruit 1,000 participants, up from 500 participants last year. The purpose of this competition is to encourage anyone who loves photography to show their talents and creativity through the lens of the digital camera, and enjoy challenging and imaginative themed assignments. The Canon Photo Marathon Thailand 2008 is a broad opportunity open to all people with no restriction to prior experience, age or brand of digital cameras they use in the competition. The winners will be given a chance to attend Photo Clinic photography workshop to hone their photography skills with professional photographers and take pictures at beautiful places in the South Island of New Zealand for nine days. Applications can be made from September 1-14, 2008 at http://photomarathon.canon-asia.com. Last year, 500 places for applicants were filled up within only two days. Anyone present at the competition will have fun cheering on the contestants and joining activities for prizes from Canon. Also, the movie star Wee — Weeraparp Suparbpaibul — together with Miss Canon U-league will perform a special themed assignment, plus play games and give an interview on the stage.” “Contestants will be given three assignments of three different themes and required to complete each task and return to The Esplanade with their photos ready for downloading into a computer server within a three-hour period. The assignments for last year were “Sufficient Life”, “Movement” and “Spirit“. All photographs will be judged on the following key criteria: creativity in theme interpretation, use of colors and light/shadows, composition of photographs and relevance to theme,” said Mr. Warin.
