Bangkok--21 Aug--Office of Trade Logistics The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) is inviting professionals and people interested in the field of logistics to engage in trade negotiations, seek business expansion opportunities and discover the latest logistics innovations and services at the upcoming Thailand International Logistics Fair 2008 (TILF 2008). The event is scheduled to run between September 11th-13th, 2008, at BITEC Bangna, and is organized under the theme of ‘ASEAN Logistics Networks’. Mr. Rachane Potjanasuntorn, DEP Director-General, revealed that, “Thailand has what it takes to become the regional logistics hub in ASEAN and the trading gateway to Indochina. The country is blessed with a strategic geographical location at the heart of the region, connecting East with West and North with South. We also have an excellent sea-to-land transport infrastructure, linking the rest of continental Southeast Asia.” “The Royal Thai Government has denoted logistics development as a national agenda, and has put the National Logistics Development Plan (Year 2007-2011) in place. Policies have also been issued to steer Thailand to become a country with a logistics infrastructure of international standard. Plans are already in the pipeline to train Thai logistics professionals and entrepreneurs to be highly competitive in the world marketplace. The government is also working on a strategic plan to integrate together sea, air and land logistics infrastructure. The ultimate aim is for Thailand to become the regional logistics hub in Southeast Asia.” The Thailand International Logistics Fair 2008 (TILF 2008) will take place between September 11th-13th, 2008, at BITEC Bangna, under the theme of ‘ASEAN Logistics Networks’.
