Further clarification of SCB’s response to the Revenue Department’s order to deliver the attached assets of Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra and Ms. Pinthongta Shinawatra

ข่าวเศรษฐกิจ Thursday September 4, 2008 16:14 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--4 Sep--The Siam Commercial Bank Reference is made to the Revenue Department's written order dated 22 August 2008 that The Siam Commercial Bank PCL (the Bank) must deliver the attached assets of Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra and Ms. Pinthongta Shinawatra to the Revenue Department in settlement of their tax obligations while such order seemed to be repetitive to the attachment order of the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC). Since both of such orders conflict with each other causing confusion and difficulty to the Bank to follow and the Bank may also be subject to a criminal offence if the Bank complies with only one order, the Bank then filed a petition to the Central Administrative Court anticipating that the Bank would be able to perform in compliance with the Court’s ruling where such facts have previously been explained in a Bank’s letter given to the press. The Bank would like to further inform that on the 4th day of September 2008 at 09:30 hours, there was a hearing in the Central Administrative Court and the Bank was required by the Court to provide additional information such that the Court may then be able to carry out the proceeding.
