Bangkok--17 Sep--SET “Thailand Focus 2008 — Diversifying the Thai Portfolio”, CLSA Securities (Thailand) Co.,Ltd.’s and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s extravaganza for international and foreign investors, will be held during September 17-19 at Plaza Athnee, Bangkok. CLSA and SET expect over 500 participants. Around 180 leading fund managers and institutional investors, including from the world’s 10 top asset management firms with US$3.5 trillion (approx. THB119 trillion) under management are expected to attend. Approximately 335 listed-company executives, securities analysts, and senior executives from capital market and industry organizations have confirmed their attendance. Sixty-six listed firms from both SET and the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) from eight industry groups, with a combined market capitalization of THB3.55 trillion (approx. US$104 billion), or 68% of total market capitalization (as of September 12, 2008) will present earnings reports, policies and plans during group presentations and in one-on-one meetings. This year’s event includes many firms from the FTSE-SET Index: 25 companies from the FTSE Large Cap Index, 22 from the FTSE Small Cap Index, and 1 firm from the FTSE Fledging Index. Fifteen SET or mai listed firms are also participating. Acting Deputy Minister of Finance Suchart Thadathamrongvej will present the keynote speech, “Pushing Thailand Forward — The Vision”. Other speakers on September 17 are Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Watanagase, talking on “Securing Thailand’s Future with the Capital Market”, followed by “Investment in Thailand :Value-packed Opportunities” from Board of Investment Secretary General Satit Chanjavanakul. Mr. Vijit Supinit, former Bank of Thailand Governor and Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), will show the market’s steady development under the title “Thai Capital Market: Past, Present, and Future”. On September 18, Acting Minister of Tourism and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat will speak on “Eco-Tourism and Sustainable Tourism Development”. Then, UNCTAD Secretary General Supachai Panitchpakdi, will present his views on “Opportunities and Challenges for Thailand — the Global Perspectives.” The final distinguished speaker of the day will be Mr. Mechai Viravaidya, Founder and Chairman of Population and Community Development Association (PDA), on “Sustainable Development and CSR”.
