Bangkok--23 Sep--Hill & Knowlton Thailand Rolls-Royce today announced the appointment of Paul Freestone as Managing Director of Rolls-Royce Thailand. Mr Freestone will manage and develop all aspects of business for Rolls-Royce in Thailand, as well as Laos and Cambodia. The appointment became effective on 08 September 2008. Paul Freestone will take over his new position from Dan Pedley, who now returns to take up a position at Rolls-Royce in the UK after four years in Thailand. Both have been working closely over the past month to ensure a seamless handover, visiting a number of key customers and partners. Beyond the four key business sectors of civil aerospace, defence, marine and energy, Mr Freestone has also committed to continue to develop the Rolls-Royce corporate responsibility strategy in support and development of Thai society, specifically, building on recently forged relationships with local universities. "I am delighted that Paul has accepted this appointment. With his extensive experience with Rolls-Royce and in providing management direction, I am confident that he will build upon the strong momentum that the Rolls-Royce business currently has in Thailand," said Michael Shipster, Rolls-Royce International Director. Mr Freestone began working with Rolls-Royce in 1986 as a graduate trainee in Defence at the Rolls-Royce offices in Bristol, UK. Since then, Paul has spent 22 years with Rolls-Royce in various management positions, including an overseas placement in the United States, managing airline customers. His most recent position was as Commercial Director for Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, managing 150 commercial staff across the Civil Aerospace business and ensuring a consistent and professional commercial function. Mr Freestone obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law from the University of Kent. He also qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, in 1993.
