Bangkok--29 Sep--SET Forbes (Asia) magazine recognized four companies listed on The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and three on Market for Alternative Investment (mai) for their outstanding earnings and profit growth in 2008. The journal considered 24,155 public firms in the Asia Pacific region before compiling its 200 Best Under a Billion list. Among the seven Thai listed companies that made the 200, Thai Carbon Black PCL and Unimit Engineering PCL appeared for a second year. The awards, published in the September 2008 edition of Forbes (Asia) magazine, are for listed firms with earnings of less than USD 1 billion and outstanding performances, SET Senior Vice President and mai President Chanitr Charnchainarong said. “For the firms themselves, SET and mai, it is a matter of considerable pride to be honored by Forbes. The three mai-listed companies are Business Online PCL, which has registered a net profit since its debut and recorded high net profit over 17 successive quarters, C.I. Group PCL, which posted a 2008 net profit of THB 107 million (approx., USD 3.14 million) from THB 15 million in 2007, and Unimit Engineering PCL”, Mr. Chanitr added. The other four public firms which joined Forbes (Asia)’s 200 Best Under A Billion are BEC World PCL, L.P.N. Development PCL, Thai Carbon Black PCL and Thai Rayon PCL — all listed on SET.
