Thai bourse presents 2008 Urban Development Award

Bangkok--30 Sep--SET The SET Foundation, a subsidiary of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), has presented the 2008 Prateep Ungsongtham Hata Award to Mr. Sangval Boonsong for his outstanding contribution to urban development. Mr. Sangval has spent over 25 years working with people in the slums of Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand, helping them solve social problems and improving their quality of life and savings management. “The SET Foundation’s Honoring Great Social Contributors program offers moral support to those who have dedicated themselves to society and encourages the public to do more to benefit the nation,” SET Foundation Chairman Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya said. This year, the foundation has acknowledged Mr. Sangval’s unwavering commitment and hard work in establishing numerous projects aimed at eliminating poverty and enhancing the quality of life in slum communities in Bangkok and the provinces, Duang Prateep Foundation (DPF) President Prateep Ungsongtham Hata said. DPF continues to pursue its goals of holistic social, child and youth development and supports such endeavors across Thailand. Giving the award to Mr. Sangval, who is now 60 years old and an amputee, provides timely recognition of his vigorous determination and selfless dedication to the public good, Ms. Prateep added. The SET Foundation’s Honoring Great Social Contributors has six categories. The other awards focus on education, rural development, or promotion of music, sports or libraries.
