Bangkok--2 Oct--Hill & Knowlton Thailand Supreme Distribution (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has unveiled the Klass Book — a unique portable netbook computer that comes ready-installed with eight outstanding educational curriculums under a package known as the Supreme Education Kit. Bringing together the latest Microsoft educational software with a powerful Intel Atom processor, the Klass Book represents a valuable educational tool for children to practice their computer schools that also offer a range of games and activities that make it fun for all the family to enjoy. Supreme is also making the Klass Book available through a number of different sales locations and offering a leasing program and comprehensive after-sales service. Although designed to suit the needs of children below Grade 9, the Klass Book is a ready to use netbook that can be enjoyed by everyone for both knowledge and entertainment purposes. Moreover, it is highly portable and practical thanks to its compact size, durable 30 GB hard disk, water resistant keyboard and pre-installed WiFi to help users get connected anywhere anytime. Speaking on the new netbook, Panuwat Khantamoleekul, Managing Director, Supreme Distribution (Thailand) Co., Ltd. commented, “As a producer and seller of computers in Thailand, we know that digital technology and digital content is critical to today’s living - with children growing up in a firmly knowledge-based society. It was with this in mind that the idea behind the Klass Book was first conceived and we are proud to say that it now offers a great design with an unbeatable combination of hardware and software content thanks to our partnership with Microsoft’s software and Intel’s microprocessor. As such, I believe that together we are taking this new wave of netbooks to the next level, with an educational machine that offers parents a safe netbook packed full of knowledge that can really boost their children’s skills and capabilities.” Indeed the Klass Book’s educational content is a major outstanding feature. Known as the Supreme Education Kit, the Klass Book comes with eight multimedia-based curriculums based on the Ministry of Education’s 2001 Basic Education Curriculum. The courses and topics covered include mathematics, science, foreign languages, Thai language, physical education and social religion, as well as culture, art and technology. For all of these curriculums, children can follow comprehensive lessons before testing their knowledge using games and finally comparing their scores with the program’s ranking system. Also installed on the Klass Book is Microsoft Student, complete with Encarta? Premium 2008 edition. This multimedia encyclopedia represents a valuable collection of tools for children and students to accurate and quickly research up-to-date information. Furthermore, Microsoft has included its ‘Family Safe’ security function which allows parents to prevent their children from accessing unsafe or inappropriate websites. “Microsoft Thailand maintains a strong commitment to Thai society and we are always striving to find ways to make the latest educational multimedia more accessible and affordable for Thai children,” said Petchsiri Luangpairote, Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft (Thailand) Limited. “In line with Microsoft’s Unlimited Potential program, we believe that it is by opening up the world for children outside of the classroom that we can really help to enhance their full potential. This vision is also shared by the Microsoft Family Education PC program that has arisen from our collaboration with both the Thai Ministry of Education and other technology partners in an effort to positively transform education through a wide range of educational projects. Ultimately Microsoft aims to bridge the education gap and expand technology accessibility to all of Thai society. However, it is equally important to note that, by pairing together the Supreme Education kit with Microsoft Student with Encarta? Premium 2008, this collaboration with Supreme and Intel is also giving Thai families a great reason to spend more quality time together.” Featuring Intel’s smallest-ever low-powered processor, the Klass Book offers Intel’s new Atom? processor, which is based on Intel’s industry-leading 45nm high-k metal gate technology and has been specially designed from the ground-up for minimum power consumption and high performance in small form factor PCs. It is this technology which is enabling a new class of affordable and easy-to-use devices known as netbooks, which typically focus on basic internet-centric functions such as content viewing, rather than advanced applications. Indeed access to information remains key to the Klass Book’s goal of making technology more accessible and affordable for children and these efforts will go some way towards bridging the country’s digital divide in line with the Intel? World Ahead program, which has been adopted by Intel Worldwide to enhance people’s quality of life by connecting them with technology, the internet, education and digital content that truly matches their local needs. “This new Klass Book by Supreme has been developed from the Classmate PC netbook that was first created by Intel and Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) to support one-on-one e-learning education programs that are being used in classrooms around the world, including in Thailand,” added Sontiya Nujeenseng, Area Sales Manager, Intel Microelectronics (Thailand). “With its affordable price, we see the Klass Book as an ideal first computer that can help enhance children’s education and in turn support the goals of our Intel World Ahead program, as established through our collaboration with the Thai government and our partners in Thailand.” In addition to distributing the Klass Book via Supreme’s dealers throughout Thailand, Supreme Distribution (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has also teamed up with Thailand Post to give customers the option of paying for their Klass Book at any of Thailand Post’s 1,187 branches countrywide. The Klass Book will then be delivered to them within seven days of payment and customers can also receive after sale service at their local post office branch. Similarly, Supreme has also partnered with Krungthai bank to turn 800 KTB branches nationwide into selling points for the Klass Book. A leasing system will also be offered to customers who hold an account with Krungthai Bank and within fifteen minutes for approval, customers can then set up a monthly payment system to conveniently pay for their Klass Book. Parents and children interested in the Klass Book are also encouraged to come and see it in action at the ‘Kids of the World’ event, which will be held at Impact Challenger Muang Thong Thani, Hall 3 Booth L 36, from the 3rd — 7th October, 2008.
