Platinum Fashion Mall, the nation one-stop wholesale centre in fashion clothes and accessories invested 2,300 million Baht to move a step further in developing its hotel and larger shopping mall on leather and jewelry to cater such growing demand. The new development is expected to be finished in 2010.
Mr.Surachai Chotjurangkool, President and CEO of SPT Management Co.,Ltd. a developer of the Platinum Fashion Mall revealed ‘The Platinum Fashion Mall was opened in 2006 as street wear fashion and accessories wholesale centre. With the total space of 50,000 square meters, the fashion mall has 1,600 tenants selling modern fashion and accessories. The wholesale centre gains the popularity with the growth number of visitors over 30,000 on weekdays and over 50,000 on weekends with target group of 85% local and 15% foreign buyers. Currently, the performance on wholesale and retail segment is equally shared which an aim to increase the growth wholesale and retail segment to 70% and 30% respectively in the next few years. With 2,300-million Baht investment, the 24-storey wholesale centre will house 400 -500 retail shops selling jewelry and leather products. Not only one-stop shopping service for products but also offering 300 hotel rooms to cater foreign traders and tourists. The new retail shops and hotel is expected to be opened in 2010.’
In addition, to make different products for the fashion mall, the company also announced the ‘Platinum Fashion Mall Street Fashion Designer Contest 2008’, searching for the flair and creativity designers to pursue a career in fashion industry. The grand winner will win a trophy from HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana and the contest will be held on November 26, 2008. The importance of textile and clothing manufacturing to Thailand’s economy is readily apparent. The export on garments and leather earns over 900,000 million Baht in 2007. Early this year, the export in this segment has registered over US$ 2,300 US$ with rapidly growth over 8.6% compared to the same time last year.
