Bangkok--17 Oct--Gossip Gallery Gossip Gallery on Sukhumvit 28 is hosting M. L. Saksin Karsamsun’s ‘Alien Um Yokee’ . . . . . . a charity art exhibition Saturday, October 25, 2008 The owner of Gossip Gallery, Khun Ticha Chotchung, and renowned Thai artist M. L. Saksin Karsamsun have announced that the last exhibition day of M.L. Saksin’s ‘Vera-Alien’ collection will coincide with a one day exhibition of the artist’s new work, This new collection, titled ‘Alien Um Yokee’ (literally meaning ‘Alien holding a hermit’) is a sequel to ‘Vera-Alien’. This special collection will be exhibited for public viewing at Gossip Gallery, but only on Saturday, Oct. 25th, 2008. Immediately afterward, the ‘Alien Um Yokee’, which consists of 12 oil pastel paintings, will be sold through the Gossip Gallery. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to help buy an electric wheel chair for Lung Oong Tarttallranong, a Thai sculptor known for his depictions of yoke, or hermits. (Despite his inability to walk and constant pain from his wheelchair confinement, Lung Oong’s love of art has compelled him to continue to sculpt.) Referring to this unique, one-man show, Khun Ticha, the managing director of Gossip Gallery, stated that ‘I am very excited about this exhibition. It is truly a good cause. I would like to invite everyone, artists and non-artists, to come and join in the celebration of spirit and hope. The celebration of life will not only help our fellow artist, but also offer encouragement and independence to a gifted, but disabled artist.’ M. L. Saksin, the creator of ‘Alien Um Yokee’ added that ‘This special exhibition is very important to me. I named this collection ‘Alien Um Yokee’ because the Aliens symbolize humans, who are normal, coming to the aid of a Yokee or a hermit. The hermit represents the handicapped Lung Oong who has exchanged his mobility for a full measure of artistic talent.’ Besides the exhibition, a live band will play and unique arts and crafts will be offered for sale. Part of the proceeds from the art and handicrafts will be also donated to help buy an electric wheel chair for Lung Oong. I invite everyone to come out and support this charitable event’ the artist concluded. The festivities will start at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25th at the Gossip Gallery (BTS: Prom Pong Station).
