Thai printers get the chance to shine among the best in the world
Local Thai companies are getting a rare opportunity to show off their best products and services as major international companies involved in screen, digital and textile printing from all over the world converge in Bangkok which is hosting for the first time FESPA World Expo Asia-Pacific 2008, a mega international trade exhibition to be held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) on 28-30 November 2008.
To date, over 1,500 visitors from almost 90 countries have already pre-registered. Over 150 exhibitors from most countries in Asia Pacific - from India, China, Korea, Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippine, Japan, Thailand to Australia have confirmed their participation in the FESPA World Expo Asia Pacific 2008 show. European exhibitors from countries like UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Belgium and Sweden are also attending while a large delegation from US, Canada and the Middle East plan to show off their best products during this event.
FESPA World Expo Asia Pacific 2008 organizers expressed belief that Thai printers have their special edge that enables them to be globally competitive.
“Thai Screen Printing and Graphic Imaging Association (TSGA) is a very strong association in Asia and has a clear objective to make Thailand as the ‘SCREEN VALEY’ of the region. Thai printers have a strong passion to develop themselves to be the best not just in Asia but in global level. FESPA also has noble objective in developing this to their success. Our mission is not just for Thailand but also for all members to assist them to their goals,” said Mr. Adhiwatra Chanapokakul, FESPA Asia Pacific Ambassador.
He added, “FESPA expects to see that visitors realize the value of being together and develop the industry. FESPA has solid plan to extend our relationship in Asia Pacific and is looking forward to attracting more valuable members to add into our family. We also plan for the next show in Bangkok and more shows in this region to extend our community throughout Asia-Pacific.”
Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), who is giving its all out support to the FESPA Asia-Pacific event, highlights the timeliness of FESPA World Expo Asia Pacific 2008 in promoting Thailand as a globally recognized and preferred MICE destination in Asia.
“We believe that FESPA World Expo Asia-Pacific 2008 will provide benefits to Thailand — in terms of being a significant contributor of revenue to Thailand’s MICE industry through the large number of international and local attendees who will be attending. Additionally, the event will serve as a platform for transferring ideas and technological know how in the printing industry to Thailand, helping to develop Thailand’s capabilities in this area.
We also hope to use this event to showcase Thailand’s expertise and suitability for hosting world class exhibitions under our umbrella campaign ‘Bangkok: Exhibition City of ASEAN’,” Ms. Supawan Teerarat, TCEB Exhibition Director, stated.
Aside from the vibrant trading and other business opportunities this event offers, there will be remarkable never before seen in Asia activities and seminars that would pave efforts for technology transfer and knowledge-exchange of the latest trends in this industry.
One of the highlight events, “FESPA Inspire Conference” will be divided into three highlighted categories—Technology, Marketing and being Environment-friendly. There will be 27 sessions in two seminar rooms that will run along with the three-day show. FESPA invited experts from all over the world to provide the latest trend and information of the industry. The highlight of the seminars include a Screen and Digital debate as digital trend has taken over the printing industry, questions on how printers can survive together and how screen printing will develop to the next step would be tackled.
There will also be a “Green” debate as European countries have set up strict rules in managing the environmental issues especially imported products. EU have issued a new regulation called “REACH” (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemical) which will be enforced on all chemicals use in the products export to EU country in near future.
Mr. Pirach Thampipit, President of Thai Screen printing and Graphic imaging Association (TSGA) added, “Aside from these knowledge-enriching activities, FESPA World Expo Asia Pacific 2008 shows a lot of exciting activities that the visitors will experience from the FESPA World Expo Asia-Pacific for the first time such as “World’s Largest Digitally Printed Jigsaw”. This creative project is supported by Halifax Vogel who supplied the substrate called “Imageboard” imported from Australia just for this event, printed by Fujifilm Sericol’s UV flatbed printer, while ICS & Zund assisted in cutting the jigsaw. The World Largest Digitally Printed Jigsaw is a very challenging project as it is a collaboration of all parties in the project to show the power of large format digital printing that other technology cannot perform. Its dimension will be 18 meters by 20 meters with the image of Bangkok Exhibition City.”
