Bangkok--30 Oct--SET
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has invited more than 90 state and private agencies to SET in the City. The event brings together a number of key capital market activities, including SET Awards, Shareholder Awards, LTF-RMF fair, a stock simulation game, advice from securities analysts and the stock futures launch. SET in the City will take place during November 20-23 at Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Shopping Complex.
“This comprehensive event, using the theme Life is an Investment, will help restore public confidence in investment,” SET Chairman Pakorn Malakul Na Ayudhya said.
“The Exchange continues to provide education for investors and the public. Especially during a current global economic crisis that affects everybody, SET in the City 2008 is an important occasion to boost business confidence and spur the economy,” Mr. Pakorn added.
This is the fifth annual SET in the City which continues to provide comprehensive investment and financial information, SET President Patareeya Benjapolchai added.
“Now is a prime time for investors to become co-owners of quality listed businesses, whose share prices are heavily undervalued but which continue to pay high dividends. This year’s fair will benefit both existing and new investors, as they can meet with specialists from the financial and capital markets at more than 100 exhibition booths and in more than 100 discussions and seminars,” Ms. Patareeya said.
SET in the City 2008 will include 34 awards under SET Awards 2008 and Shareholder Awards 2008 and an announcement of those firms that have met the Corporate Governance Report (CGR) of Thai Listed Companies criteria. Certificates will be presented to outstanding listed, securities and asset management firms, and company executives and quality shareholders,” SET Awards 2008 judge Santi Wiriyarangsarit stated.
Participants will receive key information, policy updates and operating results from executives of 40 leading listed firms, Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations and Listed Companies Association Chairman Prasert Bunsumpun said.
There will be savings and investment experts providing investment advice and analysis for visitors. Participants can discuss investment planning, including stocks, bonds, debentures and derivatives, Association of Securities Companies Chairman Kampanart Lohacharoenvanich explained.
The 14 asset management firms attending this year’s fair will provide investment specialists to help visitors understand each fund’s operating report and offer tax planning services. This will stimulate interest in tax management through RMF and LTF investments, after the Finance Ministry recently raised tax deduction limits for both funds to THB 700,000, Association of Investment Management Companies Chairperson Worawan Tharabhum said.
The Thai Investors Association (TIA), together with the Securities and Exchange Commission and Thailand Securities Depository (TSD), will provide educational services on the rights and duties of shareholders, TIA Chairman Vicha Poolvaraluck added.
There will be a gathering of analysts on Thursday, November 20, from 15:00 to 19:30 hours to advise investors and disseminate a special publication, available only at SET in the City, containing financial analyses, Securities Analysts Association Secretary General Sombat Narawutthichai added.
Visitors who have registered for the event will also have a chance to win more than 200 cash prizes in stock and fund investments and gold necklaces, at a total value of more than THB 1 million.
