KASIKORNBANK and dtac further develop their advanced ATM SIM system to support money transfers to the accounts of seven more banks, bill alert service and mobile purchase of movie tickets from SF Cinema City theaters. ATM SIM is expected to attract 1 million subscribers by this yearend.
Krisada Lamsam, Executive Vice President of KASIKORNBANK, says after its launch in March, the ATM SIM service, jointly developed by KASIKORNBANK and dtac, has proven to be highly successful. The service enables customers to conduct financial transactions with KASIKORNBANK via dtac mobile phones everywhere, no matter whether they would like to check their bank balances, transfer money or pay bills. Currently, there are over 700,000 ATM SIM subscribers who have carried out as many as 6.8 million transactions and are transferring over 4 billion baht a month. KASIKORNBANK and dtac are confident that the number of ATM SIM subscribers will reach 1 million by this year.
Thana Thienachariya, Chief Commercial Officer of Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), says ATM SIM is the innovation that results from collaboration between banking and telecommunication industries. It leads to the development of the new application that incorporates mobile banking into mobile phone services in Thailand for the first time. Consequently the customers of KASIKORNBANK and dtac, totally 24 millions, can make financial transactions via their mobile phones conveniently and quickly. The transactions are also highly secured by the deployment of the Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES).
Ampol Polohakul, First Senior Vice President of KASIKORNBANK, says that in order to perfectly meet consumers’ demands, ATM SIM subscribers can now transfer money from KASIKORNBANK accounts to the accounts of 7 other banks namely Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Bank of Ayudhya, TMB Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Siam City Bank and UOB. The cross-bank transfer services are subject to the charges of 25 baht per transfer of up to 20,000 baht and 35 baht per transfer of 20,001-50,000 baht. The amount of each transfer is limited at 50,000 baht and the total amount transferable in one day is capped at 100,000 baht. Especially for the customers of dtac and happy, they will receive 10 baht worth of free airtime per transaction until December 31.
Pakorn Pannachet, VAS Division Head of Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), adds that ATM SIM subscribers, apart from having more choices of banks for money transfers, will also receive short messages to confirm all money transfers and can order the system to also send such short messages to recipients. Another useful feature is bill alert service, which automatically notifies subscribers of the due payment of dtac phone bills, KASIKORNBANK credit card bills and bills from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority. ATM SIM services are easy to use as subscribers do not need to connect to the Internet or EDGE/GPRS. The ATM SIM cards are also compatible with the mobile phones of almost all series, no matter whether they have color or black-and-white displays. In addition, from this December onwards, ATM SIM subscribers can reserve and buy movie tickets from SF Cinema City theaters via their mobile phones. By this means, subscribers will not have to reach their box offices to pay for and receive movie tickets an hour before showtime anymore.
dtac customers can replace old SIM cards with ATM SIM cards and keep their old phone numbers. The replacement can be done at ATM SIM booths in all KASIKORNBANK branches, dtac Service Centers and dtac shops. New customers can receive free ATM SIM cards at all KASIKORNBANK branches nationwide.
