Bangkok--30 Oct--The Petroleum and Petrochemical College Course Description Making a presentation in a second language can be an extremely challenging and demanding task. A presenter needs skills which go beyond the range of ordinary language courses. PPC’s two-day course, Making Effective Presentations in English, provides the skills development and hands-on practice necessary to gain confidence and to effectively use the tools of making a good presentation. Course participants will learn to produce a clear, well-organized presentation in front of an audience by using the following approaches: - watching and evaluating videos of various presentations - reading and listening to the suggestions of professional presenters - exploring effective language and communication skills by the use of worksheets and practice activities - recording and evaluating the participants’ own presentations Key areas covered in the course include: - Features of an Effective Presentation - Organizing a Presentation - Making Good Introductions - Choosing the Right Language - Designing and Presenting Visual Aids - Using Appropriate Body Language - Making Strong Endings - Handling Questions - Evaluating Effectiveness Who Should Attend? Anyone concerned with designing and making presentations in English—whether in upper, middle, or lower management positions—would enjoy the course. While the primary focus is presentations for a business setting, students and academics would benefit from the course as well. Participants should have an upper-intermediate or higher level of English (TOEIC approximation, 550+). Course Instructor Robert Wright is the English Specialist at The Petroleum and Petrochemical College, Chulalongkorn University. He has had extensive graduate school teaching experience in Japan, Thailand, and the United States, and has worked extensively with the CEOs of large global companies, with United Nations personnel, and with embassy mission counselors in making effective presentations in English. In addition, he has had over thirty years of experience in non-profit organization management, bank management, and management consulting. Date and Time The course will be held on November 13-14, 2008 (Thu.-Fri.) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check-in and Registration will take place from 8:00 a.m. on November 13, 2008. Coffee and lounge facilities will be available from 7:30 a.m. each day.
