Siemens Ltd. Thailand will participate in the 9th German Symposium Technology and Exhibition (GTS) 2008 to be held between November 8th-11th, 2008 at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center to demonstrate how Siemens as an integrated technology company can create sustainable value for Thailand.
‘Answers for Thailand” is the theme of Siemens’ booth at the forthcoming GTS 2008. Presently, there are deep concerns about growing and long-aging of world populations, accelerating urbanization, depletion of natural resources, and effects of climate change. Hence, doing business and protecting the environment have become increasingly intertwined, spurred by government regulations, social expectations and potential financial gains. Significantly, innovation is the key lever to combat climate change and create sustainable economic growth. Water management is one potential business as Siemens sees the rising demand for water as populations and industries grow are a great opportunity, and enhanced the investment in water business in Thai market. Although the impact of climate change appears to have a permanent impact on water supply, the issues can be addressed by better and more efficient water management. The use of technology can play a vital role in addressing the challenges and Siemens is the only company in the water business that has a large potential to become a major industry supplier because the company can offer such a broad portfolio of technology and services for both municipal and industrial customers. These include proven enabling technologies such as membrane filtration.
Over the last two years, Siemens has become a leading player in the water treatment sector in Thailand through strong organic growth and acquisition of Chemitreat. Based on the strong portfolio in green and waste-to-energy technologies, we foresee further growth. Siemens secured one its largest orders from Advance Agro Ethanol. The job is to design, supply and install electrical and process equipment for a complete new wastewater treatment plant. This project marks another large success for Siemens in Thailand — it follows the completion of the Wastewater Treatment supplied to the Singha Beer Corporation in 2007.
GTS 2008 is organized to coincide with the celebration of 150 years of economic relations between Thailand and Germany.
