Nokia today demonstrates the new personal information management (PIM) sync functionality of Ovi.com, as well as the recently launched Nokia Ovi Suite for PC, Share on Ovi and the Files on Ovi remote-access service. These different elements of Ovi help you manage your personal information and media in various ways through a simple and unified interface.
"Today we are showing people how you can easily backup, sync and share your content using Ovi services on your PC, the web and your mobile device", said Mr. Vipul Sabharwal, General Manager, Nokia (Thailand) Ltd.,. "Our stepwise approach to rolling out and integrating these and other elements of Ovi lets us learn and adjust according to the feedback we receive from people, so that we can constantly improve the user’s experience of our services. We recognize that in the services business bringing something new to market is not the end of its development - it's only the beginning."
The latest version of Ovi.com, which is now available as a public beta, offers free functionality for syncing your calendar, contacts, notes and tasks between a Nokia mobile device and www.ovi.com. With this functionality Ovi.com users can now create an online backup of their important information that they can access and edit anytime when connected to the internet. Nokia believes this improves a customer’s mobile experience by safeguarding their personal information in case their device is lost or stolen.
With the Nokia Ovi Suite for PC application you can easily copy files and information from your Nokia mobile device to your computer; back up the contents of your Nokia device; and drag-and-drop photos and videos to Share on Ovi, the media sharing service.
Share on Ovi is personal media sharing community where users can easily upload, manage and share personal media through a mobile, desktop or other connected device. Share on Ovi offers a community where consumers can socialise, interact and collaborate and is designed for more than 100 different media types with unlimited storage and unlimited monthly uploads. To sign up for an account, consumers should visit http://share.ovi.com. Share of Ovi is free service.
Files on Ovi allows you to remotely access the files on your internet-connected personal computers from any browser-enabled mobile phone or computer. You can also store files online in your Anytime Files personal storage area so that they are always accessible to you even when your remote PC is turned off, or is offline.
No longer to carry a USB drive, Files on Ovi offers you an easy way to browse, preview, edit and sync your files. You have the option of downloading the file locally. Edited documents are automatically synced back to the server and Files on Ovi also automatically creates small previews of many common document types to fit your mobile device screen, instead of transferring a large PC-sized document. Files on Ovi eliminates the inconvenience and frustration of clogged mailboxes and large email bounce-backs by sending remote files and folders to one or more people by emailing a link.
Files on Ovi offers free trial 10 GB space for 30 days, and choice of monthly or annual service charge starting from around 350 THB for 10 GB storage for monthly package to around 5,250 THB for 30 GB storage for yearly package.
