Chaiyod Chirabowornkul, Head of Postpaid Business Division of Total Access Communication Public Company Limited (dtac), leads a team of staff members to campaign for motorists not to use mobile phones while driving. The campaign will last 10 days at 20 main junctions in Bangkok. Along with the campaign, dtac is introducing its latest “feel goood” service, “Drive Don’t Call *177#” which is a messaging service for customers driving on streets and is designed to reduce road accidents. With the service, callers will be informed that the persons they are calling cannot receive the calls at the moment because they are driving. Then callers can leave voice mails and customers will be informed with short messages of missed calls or left voice mails. Customers can simply activate the “Drive Don’t Call *177#” service by pressing *177# and the dial key before hitting the road. At their destinations, customers can deactivate the service by pressing *177# and the dial key.
dtac also deploys its staff members to introduce the “Drive Don’t Call *177#” service on the occasion of the first anniversary of the “feel goood” services in the six provinces of Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Ayutthaya, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima and Nakhon Si Thammarat throughout November.
For the upcoming New Year festival, dtac through the “Drive Don’t Call *177#” service together with the Expressway Authority of Thailand set up five service stations to take care of expressway users and produce banners, posters and leaflets to campaign for road safety during the holiday season.
The “Drive Don’t Call *177#” service is now provided tentatively free of charge from today until December 31, 2008. Subscribers to the service will be subject to the charge of 1 baht per activation request from January 1, 2009, onwards. Customers will not be charged for deactivation requests.
